And he knew the queen knew what they did by night - never dirty but always innocent, the soft memories of child-like innocence once lost - and he also knew she did nothing about it.

She would always remember the night he first called her to his room. It was cold, rainy, a day when you knew something would happen, something bad. The cold from without seemed to seep into the house through the cracks in the windows and the walls.
